On the Log Then and Now

When Joy photographed us a few weeks ago I asked her to take a shot on this tree we came across because it reminded me of a shot my friend Amy took of him a few years ago. The first is Amy's take in Berkeley in 2006 and the second is Joy's taken in Austin in 2010 .

One recent wet and muddy Saturday morning Ty, Rebecca and I headed out to the green belt behind her parent's house in Georgetown. It was so beautiful and peaceful back there. We had such a great time exploring and taking photos. And they had great ideas. I especially love their take on American Gothic. Thanks Ty and Rebecca for a fun morning. I can't wait for your wedding next month.

Workshop

A couple of weeks ago I took a workshop with one of my favorite photographers, Cheryl Jacobs Nicolai. This was my second workshop with her and although some of the content was the same, I still learned a great deal. And I also hired her to photograph my kids. I am so excited to see the images. The boys had such a great time with her. We asked Ben at dinner that night what they did together (Cheryl took them off on her own) and Ben said "We took pictures" (with a heavy DUH how stupid ARE you people intonation).

Family Picnic | Austin Family Photographer

I was honored when my dear friend Mollie asked me to photograph her family. She had an old photo of her parents and siblings (she was in mom's belly) having a picnic and wanted to continue the tradition. I had a really hard time editing them down because I like them all so much. So I didn't really edit them down. Oh well.

A Special Note

I do not usually put reviews from clients on the blog. I am not usually one to toot my horn. But when I received this one from Jessica, which was written with the help of her amazing mother Mary (pictured below together), I just had to put it here. It literally brought me to tears. And it reminded me why I love photography. That it really affects people's lives and I am so blessed by my wonderful clients and they they let me into their lives and their hearts.

Home with Ben

Poor Ben has been sick since the middle of last week. His dad is away, he has a fever, he has bronchitis, poor little man. It has been a tough week for us all. I have been struggling with getting work done and not spending enough time with him. Often it feels like work and my children are constantly competing for my energy and attention. I feel guilty no matter what I am doing and I feel like I am disappointing everyone. Being a parent is hard, being a working mom can be torture. Especially when I come downstairs from my computer and find this scene.

I was lucky enough to photograph Taylor on her first birthday. What a little cutie she is and her little dog Peanut almost upstaged her, but she held her own. I love photographing dogs almost as much as I love photographing children.

Baby Eve Turned One

A couple of weeks ago little Genvieve Bon Repos turned one and we all came out to celebrate. It was supposed to be a garden party, but Mother Nature was having none of that. I had already gotten wet and muddy that morning at an engagement session, so much so that I required Josh bring a change of clothes. But even though the weather was a wash, we still had a great time. The boys were obsessed with the bean bag toss. I was a bit worried that Sam was going to pull the game down, he was throwing so hard. That kid has a crazy arm. And Mollie was, as always, the hostess with the mostest, who manages to look adorable even when the birthday girl is shoving a cupcake in her mouth.

Crawfish Boil

We recently went to a crawfish boil at the home of one of Josh's work colleagues and I brought my Contax645 along.

Daniel and Katy's Photobooth

Almost a month ago Daniel and Katy got married at Mercury Hall. It was SO beautifully designed and produced by the team at BZ Events. I am very excited to post the photos soon on the blog, but for now here is the slideshow of the photo booth. I can admittedly take little credit for the amazingness of the booth (with the exception of the production of this slideshow). It was conceived, designed and produced by Becky Brock of BZ Events and Stacy and Wendee and the team at Petal Pushers and finally photographed by James Dvorscak, who manned the booth. Enjoy!
